Community Partnership Action Team Planning MeetingRead More

Are you willing to share your expertise in order to bring about community wide change? Then join us for the Partnering to End Chronic Homelessness’s Community Partnership Action Teams’ planning meeting. The meeting will feature a presentation by Martha Are, Homeless Policy Specialist with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, who has been instrumental in the implementation of ten year plans across North Carolina and who will be assisting Guilford County in building our road to success. In addition, there will be roundtable discussions around education & job training, development of day centers, formation of Hope/Care Teams to support newly housed people, mental health & substance abuse services, discharge planning, gaps in services and sharing an insiders perspective on homelessness in Guilford County.

Moving forward with the efforts to end chronic homelessness in Guilford County, the press conference will detail the extent of the problem locally, the costs of homelessness, and progress to date. New Leadership Council Chair, David Miller, will announce significant funding and implementation plans regarding the Ten Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness in Guilford County.

Guilford County’s Homeless System Read More

A workshop designed to provide service providers technical assistance in establishing Housing First models. Kay Moshier McDivitt, Vice President for Programs for Tabor Community Services will present Developing Strategies to End Homelessness: The Lancaster County Model. This informative presentation will focus on best practices in housing counseling and choice, rapid re-housing, homeless assistance and “housing first” programming. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to develop strategies to engage landlords and increase funding opportunities in implementing Housing First in our community.

Presentation of Guilford County's Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness Read More

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners invites you to the presentation of the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness developed by the Guilford County Task Force on Ending Homelessness.

The event will take place on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at Guilford Technical Community College's Percy H. Sears Applied Technology Building.  Located at 601 High Point Road, Jamestown, NC 27282. Parking will be available in Lot G.

A special presentation will be given by Philip F. Mangano, Executive Director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness.

The taskforce would like to acknowledge the following organizations for their ongoing support throughout this process; the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, The Weaver Foundation, Tech Triad, Carolinanet.com, the City of High Point, the City of Greensboro,Guilford County, NPH Consulting, the Guilford Center, the United Way of Greater Greensboro, the United Way of Greater High Point and the Homeless Prevention Coalition of Guilford County.

Special thanks to all community members who contributed their time, personal information, and ideas through Town Hall meetings, surveys, and interviews during the planning process.
