Housing Support Team

The Housing Support Team is a partnership between Family Services of the Piedmont, Open Door Ministries, and the Greensboro Housing Coalition. This partnership formed from a 26 month grant for $644,000 received from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service and a $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro for a pilot project to create Housing Support Teams.

Since the unveiling of the ten year plan and the beginning of the Housing Support Team in June 2007:

  • 33 people are presently housed
  • 8 are in transitional housing 
  • 7 people are in discussion with the Housing and Support Team to determines eligibility, options, willingness to participate
  • The Housing Support Team's current success rate is 87%

Goals of HST:

  • To moves eligible participants into permanent housing and help them to maintain it
  • To reduce hospital, emergency room, jail admissions
  • To build the capacity of enhanced providers, public systems, and community groups to provide housing support to homeless disabled persons
  • To documents cost/benefit of housing first
